referred to by locals), is an island belonging to Surat Thani Province, off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus in Thailand, close to the town of Surat Thani on the mainland.

It is Thailand’s second largest island, with an area of 228.7 kmĀ² and a permanent population of approximately 55,000.

Koh Samui is steeped in traditional Thai history and culture. The island was first inhabited in the 15th century.

Today visitors to Koh Samui can enjoy its cultural charm, the warmth and hospitality of the Thailand people.

Whilst developed Koh Samui is not over developed, it retains its natural beauty, serene beaches, private coves perfect for a private picnic lunch as well Koh Samui offers superb Thai and international cuisine, food to die for!

Beaches – We Recommend

Most beaches have white sand and are fringed with coconut palms. Many resorts and hotels are located just a couple of meters from the beach. The most popular beaches are:

Chaweng Beach

A 7 km long beach in the North-East of Samui. The most well-known and developed, but also one of the best. For many visitors to Koh Samui Chaweng is perfect – full of activities, water sport rentals, get a massage on the beach, eat lunch outdoors or just enjoy a cocktail or two.

Lamai Beach

Not far as long as Chaweng but more quite and some people would say charming. The Southern part of the beach is somehow more inviting than the Northern, because there are not so much stones and corals there.
